Excited that you’ll have a chance to watch soon!!!!! Best, Jason Blum Totally Killer kicks off our favorite season when it premieres on Prime Video October 6. There’s ‘80s easter eggs like the fashion and music in the movie for people like me who lived through those years, but also for younger generations who have seen the John Hughes movies, and movies like Heathers, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Back to the Future or watched them with their parents. The time travel element also makes this unique and really fun. We also had a great cast led by Kiernan Shipka who were game on from the minute we started production. Nahnatchka struck the right balance knowing when to play up laughs and build suspense towards those moments that make you jump. I think comedy and horror are distant cousins in the sense that they require an understanding of timing. The script for Totally Killer was the perfect fit for her sensibility – the story has great characters, humor, and heart wrapped in a horror-slasher. At Blumhouse we love working with filmmakers who are looking to try new things and was thrilled she wanted to play in the sandbox with us. The team at Blumhouse and I met with Nahnatchka Khan after her hilarious comedy Always Be My Maybe had come out. When the infamous “ Sweet Sixteen Killer” returns 35 years after his first murder spree to claim another victim, 17-year-old Jamie accidentally travels back in time to 1987, determined to stop the killer before he can start. The film stars: Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Julie Bowen, Charlie Gillespie, Liana Liberato, Lochlyn Munro, and Randall Park. Totally Killer will stream on Prime Video starting October 6. We also have some first look pictures from the movie. This is exemplified in a special note from Jason Blum about his upcoming film Totally Killer. The SAG/AFTRA strike is putting almost every non-actor to work since they cannot promote films for the time being. IHorror will keep you posted on further updates as they become available. To my amazement, Variety has announced that a reboot of “True Blood” is in early stages of development at HBO. UPDATE: Former stars of the original series and even author Charlaine Harris took to Twitter yesterday to say that the announcement on various news sites was the first they’d heard of a True Blood reboot, and they knew nothing about it. The previous show followed the first book from Harris’s series, Dead Until Dark, almost to the letter for its first season but quickly branched out after that until the series was almost unrecognizable as an adaptation so it will be interesting to see how closely a reboot follows the source material.Īccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Aguirre-Sacasa is writing a pilot for the series reboot with Jami O’Brien ( NOS4A2).Īre you ready for more True Blood? Let us know what you think in the comments below! True Blood boasted a colorful cast of characters including former Civil War soldier Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), Viking vampire turned nightclub owner Erik (Alexander Skarsgard), Erik’s right-hand woman with the driest sense of humor on the planet Pam (Kristen Van Bauer Straten), Sookie’s bumbling brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten), her best friend Tara (Rutina Wesley), and flamboyant fry-cook turned witch Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). Soon, Sookie finds herself drawn into the fantastic world of vampires, shifters, and even the Fae and the hometown Louisiana woman will never be the same. After a synthetic blood substitute is developed, the world is shocked to learn that vampires are real and have been living among us for centuries. The series focuses on Sookie Stackhouse, previously played by Anna Paquin, a young woman with an extraordinary gift to read minds. True Blood is based on the 15-book series of novels by Charlaine Harris who also wrote the source material for Midnight, Texas. In addition to Aguirre-Sacasa, Alan Ball, creator of the first series, is on board as an executive producer, though all of this is apparently in the very early stages of development at Warner Media where the showrunner has an overall deal with Warner Bros. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is ready to take us back to Bon Temps, Louisiana with a reboot of True Blood for HBO.
